Bell Creek Dentistry is a 3rd generation practice, as it was originally founded by Dr. Harvey Selden in 1979. At the time, it was one of the few offices in Mechanicsville Virginia, and it quickly became a respected and pivotal part of the community.
Dr. Harvey practiced for multiple decades and in 1995, his son, Dr. Stephen Selden, joined the practice right after graduating from dental school. Both Dr. Seldens practiced together until Dr. Harvey retired in 2000. Dr. Stephen kept the legacy going, caring for long-stablished patients and new ones as the area grew and developed around them. Unfortunately, a tragedy occurred in the winter of 2023 as an ice storm led to a power outage, which subsequently lead frozen pipes to burst and flooding much of the practice. Through all adversity, Dr. Stephen and his team rebuilt the office to what it looks like today. A few years later, Dr. Stephen Selden decided it was time to retire, which led him to meet a dynamic husband & wife team to carry on his and his father’s legacy. Thus, Bell Creek Dentistry was born, under the new leading doctors of Nico Salavaggione and Pega Hajian.
Dr. Nico and Dr. Pega meet early on in dental school at UCLA. What started off as a friendship evolved into something much more than that. After graduation, they both decided to move to Virginia to be closer to family. Though not Richmond natives, they have fallen in love with the everything the area has to offer. After some years in the field, they decided it was time to take the next step towards practice ownership. This led to them to become acquainted with Dr. Stephen Selden who was nearing his retirement. They all shared very similar views towards clinical dentistry and patient care, and thus Dr. Selden agreed this duo would be the best choice to continue caring for his patients. Dr. Nico and Dr. Pega take pride in providing the highest quality of care and are excited to continue carrying out the legacy this practice has done for decades prior.
