Pediatric Dentistry in Mechanicsville, VA

Building comfort with the dentist, one visit at a time.

Starting Early Makes All the Difference

A child's first experience with the dentist shapes how they feel about every visit that follows. At Bell Creek Dentistry, pediatric care is about building comfort with the dental setting long before a child ever needs real treatment.

A Team Approach to
Every Age

Both Dr. Pega Hajian and Dr. Nico Salavaggione are involved in pediatric care at Bell Creek Dentistry, no matter your child's age. Early visits often focus on teaching parents good habits, and we're always upfront if a visit isn't working and a referral makes more sense.

Every Child Moves at Their
Own Pace

Some children walk in ready for a full exam on day one. Others need a few visits to get comfortable sitting in the chair. Both are perfectly normal, and our team is prepared to handle anything in between.

What a First Visit Looks Like

Early pediatric visits are often less about treatment and more about familiarity: meeting the team, sitting in the chair, and getting used to the sounds and sensations of a dental office in a low-pressure setting. We’ll show your child around, let them see the tools up close if they’re curious, and keep things light and encouraging the whole way through. If a child isn’t ready for a full cleaning yet, that’s not a problem. We’ll take things at their pace, however many visits that takes, and build up to a full exam over time rather than pushing for it right away.

Preventive Care as Kids Grow

As children get older and more comfortable, preventive care becomes a bigger part of each visit, including cleanings, exams, and conversations about brushing and flossing habits that stick. We’ll also monitor how permanent teeth come in and flag anything worth watching, like crowding or a tooth coming in at an odd angle, well before it becomes a bigger issue. One option worth discussing along the way is dental sealants, a thin protective coating applied to the back teeth where most cavities tend to form in kids. It’s a quick, painless step that adds an extra layer of protection to the teeth your child relies on most for everyday chewing.

When a Referral Makes Sense

Not every child is a good fit for treatment in a general dental setting, and we make that decision with parents. Every child is different, and what works well for one may not work for another. If a child needs more extensive treatment or specialized behavioral support that we cannot provide, we’ll be upfront early on and help connect your family with the right pediatric specialist.
